The Executive Board of the Federation of Mountaineering Indonesia (PB FMI) held its 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Rumsing Kodamar, North Jakarta. Carrying the theme "Strengthening Organizational Capacity and National Mountaineering Solidarity," the event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person participation in North Jakarta with virtual attendance via an online platform, enabling members from across Indonesia to take part.
The National Working Meeting brought together members of the Executive Board, provincial and district/city regional administrators, strategic partners, and mountaineering practitioners from throughout the country. The forum served as a key opportunity to strengthen organizational consolidation while formulating strategic policies and work programs to be implemented nationwide.
In his opening remarks, Major General (Marine, Ret.) Buyung Lalana, S.E., Chairman of PB FMI, emphasized that the Federation of Mountaineering Indonesia carries a noble mission: contributing to the advancement of the nation and the Republic of Indonesia through five strategic pillars—education, research, exploration, competitive sports, and disaster management.
«"Each of these areas represents our commitment and service to society and the nation. Therefore, this organization must continue to grow into a professional, united, and impactful institution that delivers tangible benefits," Buyung Lalana stated.»
He added that a more comprehensive explanation of the organization's strategic direction and future work programs would be presented by Secretary General Dr. Iqbal together with other members of the Executive Board. He encouraged all participants, both onsite and online, to actively contribute ideas, engage in constructive discussions, and formulate practical programs that could be implemented at the national, provincial, and district/city levels.
Buyung also called upon all participants to uphold organizational ethics and respect the organization's founders, senior members, and fellow colleagues as a foundation for strengthening solidarity. According to him, PB FMI should continue expanding its role through strategic initiatives while fostering partnerships with institutions at both the national and international levels.
Under the spirit of "Salam Ring of Fire" (Ring of Fire Greetings), the 2026 National Working Meeting is expected to produce adaptive, collaborative, and impactful recommendations and work programs that will support the sustainable development of mountaineering in Indonesia, making it safer, more advanced, and more competitive.
Concluding his address, Buyung Lalana officially declared the 2026 National Working Meeting of the Federation of Mountaineering Indonesia open.
